A Day in the Life of 2009 N.A. Rolex Scholar, Myfanwy Rowlands

"Each day during my stay with the Central Caribbean Marine Institute (CCMI), I got up at sunrise and biked around Little Cayman to photograph the incredible biodiversity on the island: whistling ducks, brown-footed boobies, great blue herons, blue iguanas, land crabs, and more. After doing a morning research dive and shooting video, we'd either go for another dive or I'd spend time editing photos and organizing video clips for a research project. After mastering my underwater video skills in Little Cayman, I began my circumnavigation of the United States! My trip will encapsulate all my marine passions: marine mammals at the Shedd Aquarium in Chicago, a PADI Instructor Course in Ohio, an inboard engine/boat maintenance internship in Massachusetts, and a marine policy internship in Washington, D.C. Then on to Florida and Mexico!"
