Bonnier Leads in Ad Page Growth Among the Six Major Publishers in First Quarter

Bonnier Corp. had the biggest jump in ad pages — up 19 percent — among the six major publishers in the first quarter of 2011, according to data from MagazineRadar and reported by trade publication Folio. The data also showed Bonnier had the highest number of individual brands advertising in its magazines in the first quarter at 1,608, beating out Time Inc., which had 1,539 individual advertisers.

Both sets of Bonnier numbers are a big signal to the industry at large that after only four years in existence, Bonnier has jumped into the top tier of the publishing industry, and the results of the first quarter only reinforce that message.

Other results showed Meredith, publisher of Parents (main competitor to Bonnier’s Parenting)‚ had the largest drop in ad pages, down 10 percent. Condé Nast and Hearst also were down in ad pages for Q1 — down 3 percent and 5 percent respectively.
