Saveur’s James Oseland Returns as Judge for Hit TV Series Top Chef Masters
Saveur’s Editor-in-Chief James Oseland will be back for his role as a featured judge on Bravo’s hit TV series Top Chef Masters when it returns for its third season April 6. Oseland is the only judge to appear on all three seasons of the show. Viewers will see a brand-new format this year, with 12 new award-winning chefs no longer judged on a scale but in elimination-style challenges similar to the format of the original Top Chef.

Bonnier Research Reveals Tablets Radically Alter Magazine Expectations and Behaviors
In the first phase of a joint initiative to reinvent digital magazine advertising, Bonnier’s R&D group and top ad agency CP+B launched a consumer research study to find out how people consume media — particularly digital magazines — on tablet devices like the iPad. The findings of the study suggest that touchscreen tablets completely change user expectations and behaviors around magazine content.

TransWorld Business Expands Into Motocross, BMX and Wakeboarding
TransWorld Business has added three more sport categories to its monthly publication. The coverage of BMX, motocross and wakeboarding will be added to the title’s regular lineup of skate, surf and snowboarding information, beginning with TransWorld Business’ March 2011 issue.
Each issue of TransWorld Business will highlight the new sport categories within its News Pages and Exposure Meter sections. The title will also include various features on retailers and brands.

Sport Fishing in Brazil’s Carnaval
Brazilians call Carnaval in Rio de Janeiro “the greatest show on Earth.” Andy Hahn, Sport Fishing magazine’s senior editor, lives in Rio and took part in the festivities. In 2005, Andy was diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease), a malady that attacks motor neurons and causes paralysis, but he stays as active as possible.

Ana Connery, editorial director, print content, strategy and design for the Parenting Group, appeared on NBC’s Today show to offer parents advice on how to keep from spoiling their children, and how to reverse the damage if the deed is already done. It’s all about teaching the basics and setting a good example for kids to follow.

Bonnier Consumer Marketing Director Bob Cohn was inducted into the DMA Circulation Hall of Fame. At the awards ceremony March 3 in midtown Manhattan, Bob addressed a crowd of 250 people. He cited the support of Bonnier top management in understanding the value of strong reader relationships, and expressed pride in building a consumer marketing staff that works well together, which he called one of the best in the publishing industry. Bob also thanked three people he met early in his career at CBS, who were instrumental in his career. Two of them — Phyllis Stagg, a direct marketing consultant, and John Suhler, managing director of Veronis Suhler — attended the event. The third was our own Vice President, Consumer Marketing Bruce Miller, who met Bob in those years and hired him to join Bonnier Corp. when it was formed in 2007.
