Parenting’s Elizabeth Shaw Discusses Child Milestones with Matt Lauer on NBC

Parenting Executive Editor Elizabeth Shaw returned to the NBC Today show last week for the second installment of “When Is It OK to … ?,” a segment based on a series of poll questions on major kid milestones co-developed by Parenting and Today.

Today approached the magazine in September for help in bringing to life a segment idea by host Matt Lauer, in which moms would answer a series of questions in an online poll about the ages that certain milestones ― from ear piercing to sitting in the front seat of the car ― should be experienced. The results would be used to fuel a roundtable-style discussion on air among Lauer, a Parenting magazine editor and two other child and family experts.

Parenting.com hosted the survey, and thanks to heavy promotion by todayshow.com, parenting.com and the social-media applications of both sites, more than 5,000 moms have taken the poll to date. The series has been such a success for both parties that talks of a third installment are already in the works. Here are Shaw’s first and second appearances.
