TransWorld SNOWboarding is riding high as its 24th year is under way. For the first two issues of the season, ad pages are up 28 percent and revenue is up 18 percent compared to last year.
The brand’s online component twsnow.com has already surpassed its goal for the year and is currently at 105 percent of goal and up 7 percent compared to last year.

Michael Maya Charles Takes Over Flying as Editor-in-Chief
Bonnier Corp. has named Michael Maya Charles the new editor-in-chief of Flying magazine. Maya Charles, an accomplished author and experienced pilot, has contributed to aviation publications for more than 30 years and will now take over the editorial direction of Flying.
“Flying has always been the voice of experience in the aviation industry,” said Maya Charles. “What I hope to bring to the table is a broad base of experience that allows me to harness my knowledge and passion for flying into an engaging magazine that inspires and educates pilots in all market segments, and of all experience levels.”

Yachting to Launch Image Recognition in September Issue
Yachting is introducing image recognition in its upcoming September issue. The service, called Pongr, is intended to increase contact between Yachting and its readers by providing instant interaction through readers’ mobile devices.
Simply put, image recognition works when readers use their camera-equipped, Web-enabled smartphone to take a picture of an editorial page or ad in the magazine, then send that image to a designated server via an app, text message or e-mail. The server, operated by Pongr, then sends back content, links or information to the reader’s mobile device.
