TransWorld’s July Ad Sales Are Hot

Many TransWorld titles have good news to report on the ad front — summer sales are heating up. TransWorld Business experienced a notable
82 percent increase in July 2010 ad pages, compared to the same month last year. Among the other titles enjoying July ad-page gains are TransWorld SURF, up 26 percent, TransWorld Motocross, up 20 percent, and TransWorld Ride BMX, up 4.5 percent. Florida Travel + Life — The TV Series

Florida Travel + Life has extended its brand to television. The new TV series takes viewers to Florida’s hottest destinations and offers insider tips on where to stay, dine, shop and play. Florida Travel + Life’s Affordable Luxury debuted this month and airs every Saturday at 8 a.m. (EST and PST) on the Travel Channel, with additional air dates on channels such as Sun Sports.

Welcoming Three GROW Participants From Sweden
Period two of the Bonnier GROW program is here, and we have some new faces in our offices. In Winter Park, Frida Jonasson, production coordinator and photo editor for Amelia magazine in Stockholm, joins the production department, and Lisa Widell, assistant art director also for Amelia, joins the design services group. In New York’s 2 Park Ave. office, David Andersson, developer for AdLibris in Stockholm — the largest online bookstore with sales in Sweden, Finland, Denmark and Norway — joins us as a developer.

Bonnier Newspaper Runs Comical Campaign to Prove the Power of Print

Bonnier’s financial daily, Dagens Industri, in Sweden, sought the aid of Casten — a telecommunications consultant — to create a powerful video campaign to drive home the effectiveness of print advertising. Mission accomplished, but perhaps in a much different — and more comical — way than would be expected. Who knew zebras could be such a compelling campaign subject? You’ll need to see it to believe it.

Two of Bonnier’s own are finalists for MIN’s Sales Executive of the Year Awards. The winners will be announced on June 14 in New York.
- Angela Shields Freeborn — the Parenting Group. Angela is one of six finalists in the Salesperson of the Year category. She’s based in our San Francisco office.
- Libby VanderPloeg — Saveur. Libby is one of only two finalists in the Art Director category. She’s based in New York working as an advertising art director.

Barbara Taffuri has been with Field & Stream for an astounding 40 years, making her the longest-serving employee in the title’s history. She is currently the magazine’s production director, but during her time with Field & Stream, she has worked as a statistical analyst, spent time in the Promotion Department and held various research positions.
