Popular Science+ Is King of the Hill
Since the release of the iPad just over a week ago, the Popular Science+ application has been a hot item, both in the news and for those buying apps. Apple’s own Steve Jobs offered Popular Science+ a rousing endorsement during last week’s iPhone OS 4 preview, telling the assembled press and developers that it was “king of the hill” for magazine apps on the iPad. Jobs went on to say, “These guys did something really, really breakthrough, and if you haven’t seen it, it’s really worth taking the time to look at.”

Head of Bonnier’s Global Mag+ Initiative to Lead New U.S. Digital Projects
Bonnier Corp. CEO Terry Snow announced today Sara Öhrvall has joined the company full time as the new Director of Research & Development. Öhrvall has been leading the celebrated Mag+ concept for Bonnier’s parent company in Sweden. In recent months she has been working closely with Popular Science leading up to last week’s debut of its Mag+ edition on the Apple iPad.

Bonnier’s Sports Marketing Division Bucks Trend — 22-Year Run
Bonnier Corp.’s sports marketing division is kicking off its 22nd year May 1-2 with its first event of the season. During those two decades, World Sports & Marketing has produced more than 350 televised sporting events, including professional wakeboard competitions, the Pro Water Ski Tour, the ESPN X Games and Formula 1 Powerboat Racing. New this year, the group is adding running events.

Scott Salyers New Head of Fishing Titles
Scott Salyers has been promoted to group publisher of four fishing titles. Salyers has been the publisher of Sport Fishing for the past two years. As group publisher, he now adds Salt Water Sportsman, Marlin and Fly Fishing in Salt Waters. While leading Sport Fishing, he has been instrumental in extending the brand through the Web, television and events, thus bringing in new revenue. In addition Dave Morel, publisher of Salt Water Sportsman, has added another title to his name — publisher of Sport Fishing.
