Bonnier’s Ty Sawyer Named Diver of the Year The honor has gone to such luminaries as filmmaker James Cameron, Jean-Michel Cousteau, actor Lloyd Bridges and National Geographic photographer David Doubilet. Now Bonnier’s own Ty Sawyer has joined the illustrious list, winning one of the most prestigious awards in the diving industry, Diver of the Year.

Two Bonnier Corp. employees are finalists in the annual Bonnier Sales Awards competition. Paula Iwanski and Kayse Gundram are both nominated in the Sales Representative of the Year category.

Paula’s a sales manager for Field & Stream, Outdoor Life and Shot Business. Kayse is a senior account manager for TransWorld SNOWboarding. They are two of only 12 finalists chosen from hundreds of nominations of

Bonnier employees around the world. In addition to Sales Representative of the Year, the other two categories are Sales Manager of the Year and Rookie of the Year.

Both Paula and Kayse will be in Stockholm this week for a dinner at the Bonnier Mansion with Jonas Bonnier on Thursday, March 18, and the awards ceremony on Friday.

Big-Event Coverage Spikes TransWorld Motocross Web Traffic TransWorld Motocross has set a record for month-to-month growth in unique visitors, and has increased monthly unique visitors (MUVs) by 100,000 to a total of 412,235.

The TransWorld titles, especially Motocross, have had a lot of success recently by focusing extensive editorial coverage around big events. Last month, the entire edit team was literally down in the pits and behind the scenes cranking out great original content during each Supercross stop.

Working Mother Breaks into New Fashion Category Following a yearlong strategy of investing in children’s fashion editorial, Working Mother has broken this category wide open.

Editorial Fashion Director Gay Empson, a well-known expert in the world of children’s fashion, has been producing the magazine’s children’s fashion pages to much acclaim. In tandem with a sales effort spearheaded by account manager Joanne Parlamis, the first two issues of the year carried ads from Baby Phat, The Children’s Place, Payless Shoes, Parigi Group (Puma, DKNY) and PediPed.

Builders Applaud Boating’s New Award Format For years Boating magazine has named its Boat of the Year: one boat, one award. But that left readers wanting more. Boating is, after all, the world’s largest powerboat publication, and it serves readers who use boats from 25 feet up. So this year the magazine upped the sizzle on its annual awards to give readers more guidance on top boat-builder trendsetters.
